It’s time to reveal the theme for the AZ-Challenge. I have picked a theme which is interesting, fascinating, fun, crazy, entertaining, and maybe even provocative.
My theme
this year is religion.
I promise to
treat all religions equally and fair. Christians, Jews, Muslims, Buddhists, and
Satanists; I have no personal preferences.
But I will
not draw Mohammad. It’s too dangerous. I don’t want a bunch of angry men with
big black beards running after me for the rest of my life. Nobody knows what Mohammad
really looked like (obviously, since it’s strictly forbidden to draw or picture
him). Therefore, just drawing a man with
a beard can be risky, unless it’s totally clear and beyond doubt that it’s
Santa Claus.
So, I will
write about religion, but I will only draw Santa Claus >:)
(That’s my
drawing of Santa Claus. I'm very bad at drawing hands, so I always draw people with the hands in the pocket. Sorry about that.)
Santa Clause is probably safe. Unless the elves come after you.
ReplyDeleteThe elves are harmless, I hope >:)
DeleteSanta would be fine with it, I am sure.
ReplyDeleteI think Santa is used to it.
DeleteThis is an interesting theme. I love learning about other religions. And I like that you're going to treat each one fairly. :)
ReplyDeleteI'll try to be fair, but not too kind. Anyway, it will be my twist on it,
DeleteBrave topic choice. I wish you luck. Is Santa's beard regulation length, that's what I want to know, and is he jolly enough? You have to be very careful or Coke might come after you ;)

Coke always scared me. I have to watch out >:)
DeleteLooking forward to your posts. Will Santa be wearing symbols from the various religions?
ReplyDeletePlay off the Page
No, he wont. Santa comes out of the Catholic Church, and I guess I'll let him stay there.
DeleteNOt sure how Santa Claus is religious really? But I will be interested to see what you write for this theme! Great idea!
ReplyDeleteCheck out my A to Z theme
Santa is related to religion in the sense that his name is derived from Saint Nicholas, a Greek bishop of the 5th century.
DeleteI am very excited to see your posts in April. I've just tiptoed thru your blog a bit and think I will really enjoy your journey. Best of luck!
ReplyDeleteThanks. Hope you will enjoy it if you return in April
DeleteInteresting theme. I can tell you'll be using great humor in your posts. Santa Claus, by the way, has nothing to do with religion.
ReplyDeleteI think Santa Claus has to do with religion in the sense that his name comes from Saint Nicholas, which means he originates in the Catholic church, like all saints. The Norse version "Julenisse", is originally related to the winter solstice, and can be traced back to pre-Christian times.
DeleteThis made me laugh :) Religions across the board can benefit from some healthy sense of humor :)

Yes, religion needs more humor. The men with long robes and big bears take themselves too seriously >:)
DeleteI'll be back! very interested in hearing what you have to say. Also, I liked your previous entry on shopping without money. Very good advice!
ReplyDeleteThanks, and welcome back later >:)
DeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteYou're the blog after me, and you're a braveheart! :) Your theme made me smile. Very interesting. You're missing a religion though, did you know? Hinduism. But on second thought, safer to leave it out. Saying anything about it can be as risky as drawing Prophet Mohammed. A certain section of Hindus seem to lack any sense of humour. Look forward to your posts.
Best wishes,
Nilanjana.

Yes, I know about Hindu of course, and I might touch into it. Unfortunately, my knowledge of Hindu, Buddhism, Confucianism ... is quite limited. Therefore, I think I will mostly focus on the Abrahamic and monotheistic religions, but we'll see. The lack of sense of humor seams to be common to certain sections of all religions.
DeleteInteresting theme.
ReplyDeleteYes, it is, in many ways >:)
DeleteNice one - I will come by again:-) Good luck on the challenge!:-)
ReplyDeleteThanks, and welcome back in April >:)
DeleteThough you don't subscribe to any religion, I find you very thoughtful about it. I enjoy reading your stuff.
ReplyDeleteThanks. Maybe thoughtful sometime, but I also enjoy making jokes about religion from time to time. I think God can take >:)
