First snow
It was all white when I woke up this morning. The mountains have been draped in white for a month already. Today was first snow in town. Before driving to the office, I changed to winter tires on the car. Damn boring to do, but now it's done >:)
In a couple of days the snow is gone, I guess. October-snow never lasts ...

ReplyDeleteBut how beautiful! Looks like a fairy tale. We're hot hot hot!

Gorgeous picture! I'm sure our day's coming...
ReplyDeleteAck! Snow already? While it's pretty (and you're a skier, so you probably don't mind), it's just too early for snow. I prefer the elongated red and orange trees, even if we didn't get enough rain this year for that.
ReplyDeleteLovely photo. We don't normally get snow until late December or January.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! (not jealous though. we will have all the snow we can handle in a month or 2...too damn cold!!..but pretty!)
ReplyDeleteI shiver for you. But it looks great.

Beautiful pictures. So great to read about someone who loves winter and enjoys the seasons. Don't beat yourself up over not having really productive writing days. Some days are meant for processing and daydreaming. I spend time visualizing a scene before I ever write one word of it. Enjoy your first snow and change of seasons!
ReplyDeleteI'm shivering, but I LOVE the look of that house and yard... the style really appeals to me, even if I'd prefer the snow was confined to December and January.
ReplyDeleteLoved the picture. I don't get to see snow often. When you say you changed to snow tires before going to work, do you mean you took off each tire and put on snow tires? Sounds like a lot of work, but I guess now they can stay on for months.
ReplyDeleteSnow is great, at least for the first couple of months. Then it kinda drags on a bit... Having moved to NZ from Sweden I haven't even seen snow for years. Pic looks beautiful however, forget how nice it looks
ReplyDeleteThanks for all the nice comments.
ReplyDeleteThe first snow is like your spouse getting naked: You have seen it all before, but it has a promise of some enjoyable moments that might be ahead. What I think about is skiing of course. October snow usually disappears. We have to wait till November or December before the snow stays.
The picture is our street and our house. Usually it doesn't look like a fairy tale, but I try to take some pics when it looks nice.
Regarding the tires: Yes, I took off the summer tires one by one, and put on winter tires. In April I'll do it the other way around. Changing the tires takes less than an hour, so it's no big deal >:)
You beat us with a day. In Oslo the snow arrived last night, and I was thrilled that some of it had stayed till this morning. I think most of it is gone now. I'm still listening to "Stjernesludd", though, as a way of stretching the joy of "first snow". I'll take snow in October over snow in April any day!
ReplyDeleteI don't miss the October snowfall. Got my fill of it living in Vermont and Nova Scotia. Pretty and all, but the foreboding of what is to come...
ReplyDelete(Love the creepy skull in the eyeball)
Lovely home! Such a pretty picture!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful. They're telling us the snowline if falling here, but in our back yard it's just leaves falling like orange snow.
ReplyDeleteI'll take some snow! Send some South and West, please.
ReplyDeleteSee you on my blog tomorrow! Looking forward to it!
