I'm just sitting here, relaxing, and listening to one of my favorite songs, a black metal masterpiece; Måneskyggens slave from the Pentagram album by Gorgoroth. In English, the title would be something like Slave of the Moon Shadow.
It's a Hell of a crazy band, but great music!
Note the guitar riff that starts at 2 minutes and 8 seconds, and the one at 3 minutes and 3 seconds.

ReplyDeleteIt's a crazy bunch these black metal guys. But try to close your eyes, leave prejudices behind and just listen to the music.
It's all about shock effect and provocation, I think. And previous generations are to blame. The grand parents go to Rolling Stones concerts, and the parents listen to Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin. Then what can you expect? What's the next level? All the horror effects are used already.
Anyway, it's great music >:)
That's one scary looking band. At first, I thought the pictures did not fit the music, but as I listened, they seemed to fit, right about when they got to the waterfalls. I don't know much about music or riffs, but I did love In A Gadda Da Vida by Iron Butterfly. Sure wish I still had the album. Loved the drums.

Yes, that's a cool song, Helen. The drum solo is great. Wish I could play like that. I like the psychedelic stuff from the 60's and 70's, in particular Pink Floyd >:)
