Bernard Pivot Blogfest
I got to know about this blogfest at East for Green Eyes by Rosie C. A quick and easy task, just answer the ten questions below, first asked (and possibly answered) by French journalist Bernard Pivot, hence the name Bernard Pivot Blogfest.
Here are the questions, and my answers:
1. What is your favorite word? Snow, the white gold.
2. What is your least favorite word? Procurement.
3. What turns you on creatively, spiritually or emotionally?
o Creatively: When I'm right about to solve a challenging math-problem.
o Spiritually: Black-metal concerts with lots of pyro and stage effects.
o Emotionally: I'm not gonna reveal my fetishes and preferences here, but if you ask I might answer >;D
4. What turns you off? I'm never turned off >:)
5. What is your favorite curse word? Any word that calls for the Devil. In Satan we trust >:)
6. What sound or noise do you love? The sound of a white-water river in the mountains
7. What sound or noise do you hate? Shopping-mall pop music.
8. What profession other than your own would you like to attempt? Author or heavy-metal drummer. Also, I enjoy teaching math and physics, but I'm doing that part-time already.
9. What profession would you not like to do? Lawyer; it appears to be incredibly boring.
10. If Heaven exists, what would you like to hear God say when you arrive at the Pearly Gates? Hay, what are you doing here? I thought you were going to the other place!
(The picture above is from my white collection. I took it last spring, when I was cross-country skiing in the north. I have no idea who the remote skier in the picture is.)

I see what you mean - procurement. I've never really liked that word either, but hadn't given it much thought.
ReplyDelete:)
ReplyDeleteI'm sensing a metallic theme, here. And, yes, mall pop-music is about the worst noise known on earth. I agree.
Great answers, and thanks for the plug.
Great answers! I especially agree with #9. I don't think lawyers have a boring job, but their job success often depends on winning an argument over uncovering the truth. That just wouldn't sit right with me, over time, you know?
ReplyDeleteSo glad you played along! Thanks!!
Agreed on the mall music.
ReplyDelete1. What is your favorite word? Cat
ReplyDelete2. What is your least favorite word? Diet.
3. What turns you on creatively, spiritually or emotionally?
o Creatively: Solitude
o Spiritually:Solitude
o Emotionally: Gentleness
4. What turns you off? Conflict
5. What is your favorite curse word? Oh dash it! (and if you believe that, I have a bridge to sell you...)
6. What sound or noise do you love? Gentle rain falling
7. What sound or noise do you hate? Incessant dog barking or motorbikes roaring up the street
8. What profession other than your own would you like to attempt? Teaching
9. What profession would you not like to do? Anything medical (too squeamish)
10. If Heaven exists, what would you like to hear God say when you arrive at the Pearly Gates? It's too soon...go back to where you came from!
This was fun (BTW, Husband - who is a tax lawyer - finds law exciting. When I asked why he chose tax, he said the figures spoke to him...)
Judy (South Africa)
I like your answers. They would take me a long time to answer since I'd keep changing my mind. I think my favorite word would probably be "mama."
ReplyDeleteI shudder at malls in general. I love the fact that you and I have such similar answers to #10. :D
ReplyDeleteTony: Procurement is a really bad word, and an activity I do not want to spend my time on, but somtimes I have to.
ReplyDeleteRosie: Metal is good stuff. Unfortunately I don't play any instrument myself, except my drumming attempts, which doesn really count ... but it's great fun >:)
Nicole: Cool blogfest. I enjoyed it >:)
Jennifer: Mall music is really bas, and malls in general make me feel miserable
Jen: Procurement and malls are no good for the heathens >:)
Judy: Great answers you have. Teaching, that's great fun, at least when you have enthusiastic and interested students, like I have. Regarding lawyers; I've never tried to be one, so I don't really know what their jobs are like. But every time I have to read a contract or a patent, it make so tired, I fall asleep after a few minutes.
Helen: "Mama" is a word i haven't used much, I used to say "mother" when I was a kid. My boys, however, use "mama", so now I'm used to it.
Laura: Malls are terrible. They always make me nervous and uncomfortable. A prefer the small local heavy-metal shop or an independent bookstore, if I want to get rid of some money.
*LMAO!* Great answer to #10!
ReplyDeleteUgh, mall pop music! Crappy covers of pop music never worth listening to in the first place. *shudder* Can you tell I agree?
ReplyDeleteI have to agree with you and VR. Canned music in malls. Gah!
ReplyDeleteI say "procure" all the time. It'd probably drive you crazy. But, I will agree, shopping-mall music is pretty bad.
ReplyDeleteHa! I am totally with you on both the sounds and the lawyer thing. Legal stuff makes me cross-eyed.
ReplyDeleteFunny answers!
ReplyDeleteJ.C.: I'm glad you liked #10. Maybe we'll meet in the other place some day >:)
ReplyDeleteVR: Yes, I can >:)
Al: The music is one out many reasons for avoiding malls
Lindz: I say the P-word from time to time too, when I have to deal with it
That photo is gorgeous! Snow creates such lovely images! Love it when the icy stuff sparkles in the sun :)
ReplyDeleteHart: We're not made for contract stuff >:)
ReplyDeleteMary: Thanks
Jemi: Thanks, I think so too. I've got lots of similar pics in my white collection
Whenever I hear the word procurement (or any variation thereof), I immediately think of cubicles and white boards. The images alone make me shudder.
ReplyDeleteLove the snow pic!
That's a great photo. I hadn't thought of that, but you're right - the sound of a rushing river up in the mountains *is* a wonderful sound.
ReplyDeleteAye, I was headed there, but I have a few friends tha hae ask to be broken oot.
ReplyDeleteHere hold ma Scotch while I remove the besom creatures from yar sight.
Ohch Aye, tha is a party ya hear down stairs. Our strippers were just in costume and they are no guut at directions, they landed here by mistake mind yea.
I sppose yea can join us if yea can leave your wee contraption far a bit. I dunna see any reason to lock it ma'sel, unless you'll be meaning to keep the poor saps In there?
Grin
Deniz: There's nothing like a mountain river, and with a fly rod at hand it's even better
ReplyDeleteHowLynn: Not sure if I understand your dialect, but thank you for stopping by >:)
