Corduroy piste

I took little boy to skiing practice in the local ski center this evening. It was cold, but no wind, and the slopes were perfectly groomed. Corduroy piste.

It's a good way to spend the evening after work.

Tonight I wrote another 500 words on my so-called novel. My old lady doesn't like it. She thinks it's a waste of time, something I can do when I retire at age 67.

She's probably right, but I keep on writing anyway >:)

  1. I'm glad you're still writing. Non-writers can't and won't get it. 500 words is a good day of writing!

  2. Nope, don't wait till your retirement. Too many dreams are put off 'till tomorrow', then all sorts of dreary stuff takes over, and the joy gets snuffed out of our day to day existence.

  3. -Keep away from people who belittle your ambitions. Small people always do that, but the really great make you feel that you, too, can become great.

  4. YAY for groomed slopes! and YAY for new words! My hubby doesn't necessarily buy into the writing thing either. I haven't offered to let him read anything (he knows where it is--he could if he were compelled--hasn't happened so far) I think there can be some gender differences in what is appealing--don't let it get you down or make you give up.

  5. Just keep writing just keep writing. My goal is to write three pages a day. That's about 100 pages a month (close enough). A few months later your draft and 300 pages are finished.

  6. Elizabeth: You're right, they don't get it

Sue: No, I won't wait. I write when I can find time, sometimes just a few minutes, sometimes hours. When I'm out traveling, I spend the nights in the hotel writing

Alex: Sure, I will, slowly but steadily >:)

    Ben: yes, that's a great Twain-quote

Hart: Some people like to knit, some like to fish or play golf. That's OK for me. For some reason, people I know think writing (just for fun) is eccentric and useless, but I don't care

Stephen: I'm quite happy if I can write 500 words a day. It doesn't happen every day, unfortunately

  7. I bet when you get published your beautiful lady will want the first copy! Keep writing.

  8. Put a spin on all things negative. You can put your old lady into your story, as someone who waits till she reaches 67-year-old to do everything in life.

  9. Helen: Yes, I will keep writing, for sure. But since I have to write mostly in secret (there is always something more useful I should spend my time on), the progress becomes slow

    Enid: That's a nice idea >:)
